FAQ

How much does it set you back to distribute a feature length film?

Distribution deals typically cost $100,000 to $150,000.

Theaters cost an average of $10,000.

Screens are typically around $5,000 in cost.

That means that if you have 100 screens, then your distribution fee would be around $500,000.

Distribution fees are $50,000 for 10 screens.

What is the difference of a producer and distributor?

A producer creates the movie. The movie is distributed via a distributor. A distributor can distribute the movie to theaters or other companies such as Netflix. Distributors buy movies directly from producers. They then make them available for sale to theaters as well cable channels and streaming services.

Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This means that certain movies might be more expensive at some theaters than others. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.

How To

How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.

The department issues a check payable the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then sends the check directly to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends on how many years ago you were first nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

Contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to get your name removed from the HWOF and to repay any outstanding debts. They will remove the name of your from the list.

What age is required to become a HWOF star?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. A star can be renominated after 10 years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. If there are no living relatives, then the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place a memorial marker in front of the star.

Why not just have stars on every street?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened to the stolen stars? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250 and 300 lbs. This makes it approximately 4 tons!
