Mississippi life

Jimmie Rodgers' Mississippi life is filled with love and tragedy. Jimmie was raised in poverty and lost his mother at the age of six. He went to school occasionally, and spent his days in barber shops and pools halls. Although he worked for low-paying railroad jobs, he spent every penny he earned. His tragic passing did not change Mississippi's legend.

Legend lists Jimmie Rodgers’ birthplace as Meridian in Mississippi. However historians believe he was really born in Geiger Alabama, where his paternal grandparents lived. Despite the disagreement over his birthplace, many still consider Pine Springs, Mississippi as the true birthplace of the famous singer. Rodgers was raised in southeast Mississippi and spent much of his adult life with his family in Alabama.

How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets

Marketing budgets typically account for between 20% and 40% of a film’s budget. This is because marketing is critical to the success and longevity of any film.

No one will know about your film if you don't do good marketing. Without knowing about your film, no one wants to pay to see it.

How many theaters do I need to make back my investment?

It depends on how long you plan to run your theatrical release.

If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.

If your film is going to be screened for more then two weeks, you will need two theaters.

Why do so few independent films ever get distributed?

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

Because they are confident that the public will love their film, they believe distributors would be willing to buy it.

This is not often the case. Distributors often take advantage of independent filmmakers.

They employ tactics like delaying a movie's release until after awards season has ended.

They also delay the release date for a low-budget film until the summer blockbuster movie season has begun.

Distributors may also keep films from the public until people have already spent hundreds of money on tickets, popcorn or candy.

They don't want these profits to be lost.
